Andy Gowins
Andy Gowins
is the co-author (Clay Anthony is his partner-in-literary-crime) of Prove Thyself a Man (PTM): Encouraging Your Son to become a Man of Character. PTM marks Andy's first foray into the exciting world of "authoring" and "publishing." Andy and Clay started writing PTM in the summer of 2006 with no intentions of publishing this project. In fact, the book was really only written for an audience of three - their three sons. Both Andy and Clay have sons that face life-changing health challenges - Clay's youngest son has Cystic Fibrosis and Andy's son has Cerebral Palsy. It was this common denominator that drew Andy and Clay together and served as the genesis for starting this project.
If you have read their book, and hopefully enjoyed it, they thank you. If you have yet to read their book they would like to invite you to do so. In Andy's words, "PTM is our attempt to articulate to our boys the hopes, dreams, and desires we have for them as they grow into manhood." For more information about PTM, please visit the official PTM website, www.provethyselfaman.com.
Andy is a full-time Minister of Education at Inglewood Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee, with more than seventeen years of ministry experience. He frequently lectures and leads training conferences/seminars concerning church health and growth, discipleship, Sunday School, teacher training, evangelism, and vacation Bible school.
While PTM is Andy's first published book, it is not his first contribution to the world of scholarly literature. He was a contributing author of several articles in Mounce's Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words, and he has written several articles that have been included in various journals, newspapers, and/or websites. Currently, he is working on two new projects: (1) is a book on small church Sunday schools that are experiencing significant growth (based upon Andy's original research), and (2) is a collection of essays concerning several eschatological themes including the Old Testament concept of "the Day of the Lord." Neither project has yet to be titled.
